Principle Psychologist – Paulette Gayton MAPS

Having worked for many years in a wide variety of roles and areas Paulette took up Psychology as a mature age student in the 90’s, completing the studies and additional training and has been a Registered Psychologist since 2005. Throughout her adult life she has completed many personal and professional development courses, as well as having an interest in health and well-being and continues to re-skill and or provides evidence based interventions to assist clients.   Her work experience in government and the private sector has included; palliative care, psychiatric rehabilitation and support, pain management, vocational rehabilitation, career counselling and vocational assessment, program management,  in general counselling and risk management, working within a school setting  and in training areas such as; leadership, emotional intelligence,  drug and alcohol awareness, and First Aid Training. She primarily works with individuals from the teens, adults and older adults and also works with couples.

Paulette offers counselling to children, young people and adults where evidence based therapies are used to support clients in clarifying issues, building understanding and management skills and implementing the changes they would like to make in their lives.  Concerns and life issues that might be dealt with include but are not limited to:

  • Stress or anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss, perhaps associated with death of a loved one, separation or divorce, miscarriage, or loss/change of employment
  • Skills training – such as relaxation skills, communication skills, problem solving and anger management
  • Support with career or study directions
  • Health challenges, such as support with diagnoses, and adjustment
  • School related stress, including peer/friendship issues, study skills.
  • Antenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety
  • Relationship counselling/support
  • Poor sleep quality or habits
  • Family relationship distress – individual counselling for managing challenging relationships with family members
  • Trauma support
  • Substance misuse issues
